Lesson Planning
Nurturing creativity, fostering artistic skills, and cultivating love for the arts among students.
I have been working with 3rd - 6th grade students 4 days a week in an art program provided by NMMA. This opportunity has been immensely gratifying and so much fun! I love being a part of the community and watching them interact with each other as they grow. In class we research cultural references to our work and how our art can effect even our personal lives as well as new techniques and creative tools. I have also been able to work on Parent Programs to lead art workshops at various schools in Chicago. During these parent programs I have evolved the Learning Plans to encourage emotional growth, art mediation techniques, and anti-anxiety tools through expression.
* Lesson Planning: Designing engaging and age-appropriate art lessons that cater to the interests and skill levels of the students. These lessons may cover various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, or mixed media.
* Instruction and Demonstration: Providing clear instruction and demonstrating techniques, encouraging students to experiment and explore their creativity. Offering guidance and support as students work on their projects, ensuring they understand the concepts and techniques being taught.
* Individualized Attention: Recognizing that each student is unique, giving individualized attention, providing feedback and encouragement to help students develop their artistic abilities and overcome challenges.
* Encouraging Expression: Creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves artistically. Encouraging students to explore their ideas, experiment with different materials, and embrace their own artistic style.
* Promoting Creativity: Through open-ended projects and creative exercises, encouraging students to think critically, problem-solve, and think outside the box. Fostering a spirit of curiosity and imagination, inspiring students to approach art with creativity and innovation.
* Cultural and Artistic Exploration: Exposing students to a variety of art forms, styles, and cultural influences (specifically Mexican), broadening their understanding of the artistic world. Introducing students to famous artists, art movements, or cultural traditions, sparking curiosity and appreciation for diverse forms of expression.
* Creating a Positive Environment: Fostering a nurturing and positive atmosphere is essential for artistic growth. Developing a sense of community and collaboration, encouraging students to support and learn from one another in a non-competitive environment.
* Exhibition and Celebration: At the culmination of the program or during special events, organizing exhibitions or showcases to display students' artwork. Providing students with a sense of accomplishment and pride in their creations, while also allowing them to share their work with family, friends, and the wider community.
